"To grow in fellowship and friendship within the club and throughout the college community.
To establish a high personal moral code of conduct based on Christian beliefs.
To promote leadership within the club and throughout the college community.
To further personal service to the college and community.
To exemplify these standards by our own conduct."
(Makona Mission Statement)
In 1978, a few good men, frustrated by the social club choices at McMurry College, decided to form their own. After much deliberation, the name MAKONA was chosen for the new organization, and MAKONA became a social club recognized by McMurry that year. The MAKONA of today may not be exactly the same club that was started in 1978, but it has always been the goal of MAKONA to choose prospective members who share the same goals as the club.
